The Instructors
Lynne Reardon & Michael Koster, are members of the International Society of Folk Harpers & Craftsmen (ISFHC), and are founding members of Harpers Hall, Inc., a nonprofit organization centered in the San Francisco Bay Area. They have performed together for many years as the duo Hearthfire, and founded the electric harp band Lumina.
Lynne is a classically trained harpist, composer, singer, songwriter, and recording artist with both lever and pedal harp background. Her musical background began with piano at age 7. She has been playing harp for more than 20 years, and is a member of the American Harp Society. Her experience includes performing and touring with the electric harp band Electric Angel.
Michael is a performer, composer, singer, songwriter, and recording artist, who studied the traditional wire technique with Chris Caswell and Ann Heymann. He builds harps, and has been playing the instrument for 18 years. He is also proficient at guitar, mandolin, mandol, cittern, and bass. He studied for many years with Omar Ait-Vimoun of the Pacific Andaluse Conservatory of North African Music.

Always wanted to play the harp? It's easier to make beautiful music than you might think! We teach lever harp (also known as folk or Celtic harp) and wire-strung harp (with or without levers). No matter your age or musical background, we are happy to patiently work with you to fulfill your harp-playing dreams. Even if you have no prior musical training, you can enjoy the satisfaction of playing this centuries-old instrument. If you enjoy singing, the harp makes a nice accompanying instrument. Lessons include developing good technique and tone, music theory, reading music, establishing good practice habits, and building repertoire. Lessons are $37/hour or $18.50/half-hour.
